Things I Learned in Kenya: The Power of the Gospel

Just got back from Kenya Tuesday night. I’ve been trying to rest through the major jet lag. We had an incredible trip! I wanted to just write down some of the takeaways of the trip over the next few days.
The Power of The Gospel
It felt like I preached the gospel 100 times while on this trip. The majority of what we did the first 5 or 6 days was strictly street evangelism. We would pile in a van with an amp, some speakers, some famous Kenyan musicians, and some white people (That’s us) and set up on the busiest street we could find. Then the musicians would start singing and rapping and drawing a crowd. Then they made the white people dance (That’s us. Never danced so much in my life. Hopefully no viral videos being spread.) The awkward white people dancing definitely drew a crowd. Usually a crowd between 200-400. Then we gave testimonies, did a skit, and then I preached a 10 minute simple gospel message. I mean simple. And hundreds were saved every single time. On the street.
Our team of fifteen saw over 2000 commitments to Christ on our trip.
It reminds me of the power of the simple message of the gospel. It’s not my job to know who is really serious about Jesus. It’s my job to tell people about the simple gospel message of Jesus. IT has the power. IT speaks for itself. We were spreading the gospel. We shared the gospel to homeless kids, to adults with HIV, to fathers that have been searching for a job for months, to people that were horrified by the violence in Kenya last year (More on that soon). And every time we did we were fulfilling the Great Commission.
Are you forgetting the power of the gospel?
Who in your life needs to hear about the gospel?
