Jamie’s Story

Fort Smith & Magnolia

I wanted to update you on New Life Church and our newest campuses.

FORT SMITH

Fort Smith officially started back in September of 2009 but we did not have a permanent location. We just bought facility with room to grow! See the pic below and all the land to the right.

MAGNOLIA

The Magnolia campus is a new idea. We just decided to take this existing church last week when 14 pastors piled in a van to go check it out. We immediately connected with the elders and leaders of this church and felt like NLC could absorb this campus. I had the privelege to go speak to them this past weekend and be a part of the announcement.

Long Overdue

Sorry for lack of updates!

Here ya go:

  • We are starting an Elevation college ministry in Little Rock in August! So we are strategizing how to do the whole dual campus thing. If you have any tips lemme know.
  • Women’s event Sunday night was insane. Seriously. Etroupe dance team was crazy good and so was everything else. Videos, decor, worship, and Christine Caine spoke. An amazing event.
  • I’m starting my masters degree in Christian leadership at Liberty University on March 22nd. Really pumped about this.
  • I’m speaking at a college ministry in Texarkana, TX on Thursday night called The Connection. Should be fun.
  • I’ll be headed out to Colorado next week to go to John Eldredge’s Wild at Heart Boot Camp. I’m going with like 10 other older men. Can’t wait to learn from all their life experiences of being a husband, father, and man of God. Plus, John Eldredge may have something to say too. :)
  • My dad is taking me to a conference in Chicago next month. Catalyst One Day. Andy Stanley and Craig Groeschel teaching on momentum. Yes please.

That’s all I can think of at the moment. I feel like that was all positive so here is one negative. I’m tired.

Peace.

Shalom In The Home: Be A Life-Giver

#2: Be A Life-Giver
Bring life to your home! Be positive and encouraging.YOU be the one to create the fun memories. Be joyful. Be a servant. Have a great attitude. We have every reason to be excited about life. Don’t wait around for someone else to get in a good mood.

REMINDER TO DADS & HUSBANDS: This should be your job! You are the leader of your home!

  • If you are stuck at Aunt Becky’s and bored out of your mind then do something crazy. Get the karaoke machine out.
  • If you are on a boring road trip then pop in the Bohemian Rhapsody and belt it out in the highest note you can find.
  • Figure out games to play. Games that will get everyone interacting and having fun.
  • Laugh at Uncle Eddie. He’ll never know.

Watch your words as well. Don’t be critical. Sure we can think of 10 things that someone else should be. But what about the other 10 things that are valuable about them.
Let’s be people that bring life to others. Not death!

Elevation Cheesy Sweater Party

We had our annual cheesy sweater party for our college ministry. Here are some pics:

Update

  • We had a great staff retreat in Hot Springs with all of the NLC pastors. It was a great time to getaway and hang out, share vision of 2010, drink coffee, play games, bowling, and play football on concrete (don’t ask).
  • I’ve been Mr. Mom this week. Ashley has a pinched nerve in her neck. She could barely move. Poor girl. She’s feeling better and hopefully will be fully recovered by the end of the weekend.
  • Our last Elevation service of 2010 is this Sunday night. The semester has FLOWN by! Can’t believe it.
  • Oh yea, and I’m going to this tonight:

Recap of Dirt Conference

NLC just attempted our first conference in our 8 1/2 year existence as a church called the Dirt Conference. It was aimed at people who work in creative arts at churches and how to use what you already have in your hand. Budget, resources, programs, volunteers, etc. The theme was “Something From Nothing.”

My opinion was that is was wildly successful. Yes, I even added the adjective “wildly.”

Brilliant lab presenters, creative atmosphere, authentic vibe, Etroupe performance,  400+ humble leaders, and main speakers Rick Bezet, Neil Greathouse, Anne Jackson, and Dino Rizzo made this conference a win.

Dirt Conference

Dirt Conference - The church minisry creative arts & tech conference.

Check it out. My church is hosting a creative arts conference called the Dirt Conference.

Dirt is a non-typical creative church conference held at New Life Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

We don’t know about you, but just when we feel like we’re on top of our game, we go to a conference that brings our confidence down to sub-zero temperatures.  We leave feeling old school and defeated.

We realize that’s not their intention…but we see all this cool stuff that other churches are doing and we ask ourselves : How can we do that?

Especially on the budget we have right now!

We know how you feel about conferences.  We feel the same way.

We realize that you don’t want to attend another conference where you leave, yet again, with that “I suck” feeling.

We get it.  Enough is enough.

What if we told you you could look under the hoods of these churches that are breaking the mold:
Lifechurch.tv
Church of the Highlands
Gateway Church
Seacoast Church

New Life Church
Healing Place Church
The Life Church of Memphis
C3 Church
Bayside Community Church
Celebration Church, TX
Newspring Church

And left saying, “I can do that!”

What if we could show you how?  What if we could pull back the curtain and show you what you can do?

And then gave you attainable goals and the tools and personal connections to get it accomplished.

Dirt.  Something from nothing.
